What Does A Teacher's Do???????!!!!

I am an aspiring teacher..I am currently a teacher's assistant at a middle-I love my job and take it very serious. I am very concerned about what will come about for future teachers with the cut backs and lay-offs. I know a few teachers that have been laid off within this last month alone and they are very frustrated and anxious to see what will happen with their students. Class sizes will change significantly, leaving less one-on-one time for a teacher and his/her students. Grading and the students attentionspand will be difficult to tackle. Grading includes the students understanding and comprehension of the material; no just a check off or signature. I work at a charter school so we are not affected, however I can see the difference in instruction from our students to those in LASUD schools. It upsets me to see that the funding for our future doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, etc, will be hindered due to lack of "money"; or perhaps just due to ignorance on behalf of our board of education!!!!!! Our children need the best and deserve the best everywhere. What she we do??????!!!!!! Just needed to vent a little bit!!!
